It’s been a productive period for CMBS.com, and I’m excited to share some key updates.
Last week, our team attended the MBA Servicing and Technology Conference in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This event proved highly valuable due to its specific focus on servicing and technology, which directly aligns with our core business.

While we successfully connected with numerous existing and prospective clients, the most significant takeaway was the emerging consensus on the imminent, large-scale adoption of AI for document data extraction. There is significant potential for this technology to significantly improve servicing margins.
Streamlining Our Digital Presence
We’ve streamlined our online presence by consolidating all content under CMBS.com. Our individual product sites, including Backshop.com, will now redirect to CMBS.com. All products —Backshop, Closer, Pro, and Data — will now reside on this unified platform. I encourage you to visit the new CMBS.com.
Backshop User Interface Update
Our new, modern Backshop interface has been well received by our users, plus the site runs much faster than before. The biggest change was the shift to a left-side menu, which moves critical content higher on the page. We will provide the classic top menu as an optional user setting, so you can use the layout that works best for you.
Upcoming CREFC Conference and SailGP Event
We’re excited to rock our booth at the CREFC Conference June 9-11 in New York. I’m particularly interested in assessing the industry’s sentiment given recent market conditions. Ian Brenner’s keynote is consistently insightful.
Prior to the conference, we’re hosting a client appreciation event at SailGP in New York. As commodore of the Golden Gate Yacht Club, I have unique access to SailGP and Oracle Racing. We and our clients will get a behind-the-scenes tour to meet the teams and view the boats. I look forward to connecting with many of you there.
I will provide an update following the CREFC conference.
Best,
Jim Flaherty
